A Week at Work

Who would have guessed it? Me cooking for a living! Yes, you heard me right. What began as The humbling exercise of washing dishes, turned daily this week, into a life long dream. Oh, I am not a professional chef, I am only the line cook at a local resturant. And, my day does not begin and end on the line, I still wash dishes and prepare the line for other cooks; but here I am, sharing a life-time of experiences for the public palate. You cannot imagine my joy!

"Trust in the Lord and do good. Live in the land and feed on truth. Enjoy serving the Lord and he will give you what you want. Depend on the Lord; trust him, and he will take care of you. then your goodness will shine like the sun, and your fairness like the noonday sun. Wait and trust the Lord" (Pslam 37:3-7).

Working for Mark I have truly found, to my great joy, the meaning of Jeremiah 29:10:

"Build houses and settle in the land. Plant gardens and eat the food they grow. Get married and have sons and daughters. find wives for your sons, and let your daughters get married so they also may have sons and daughters. Have many children in Babylon; don't become fewer in number. Also do good things for the city where I sent you as captives. Pray to the Lord for the city where you are living, because if good things happen in the city, good things will happen to you also...I know what I am planning for you, says the Lord. I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you a hope and a good future" (Jeremiah 29:5, 11).

My goals, really all about me, have given way to His goals, and it is now, all about the community in which I live, for in Mark's propserity, I am finding my own. This is what it is to live in the perfect will of God. It is really not simply about contentment, it is about viewing the journey as the destination. Every day it's changing now, and I am finding that his plan, from the beginning, is what I wanted all along. The journey is the joy!!!
